Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award 2024

The Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award is given to companies which have made an outstanding contribution towards the field of geothermal energy in the form of innovative products, scientific research or project initiatives.

The competition is calling for European projects, processes, products, and initiatives from European companies, entities, or organisations across all value chain and geothermal applications, provided that they are located or have operations within Europe.

Timeline:

  • Nominations open: 24/11/2023
  • Closing nominations: 28/12/2023
  • Extended nomination open: 29/12/2023
  • Closing extended nominations: 8/01/2024
  • Announce the finalists: 3/02/2024
  • Announce the winner: 29 February – 1 March 2024 – physical event, at GeoTHERM

The entry must cover a field application of a new concept or the development of an existing process or product to provide an innovative and sustainable approach, released within the previous year (01/01/2023 to 31/12/2023). Benefits, improvements, replicability, and reliability of the innovation should be clearly stated in the entry form and illustrated by a photo. The winner’s innovation becomes public domain. If research projects, to be qualified as innovation, nominees should have technology readiness level (TRL), as defined by the Horizon 2020 Work Programme, of 7 or higher.

From 2023, the innovation must be illustrated with a photograph demonstrating that the project has been carried out.

Participants can submit one innovation per entity per year. Unsuccessful applications will be eligible for nomination at future awards. Participants providing false information will not be accepted in the current and future editions. 

No entry fee is required.
