JOBS AD: Policy adviser

EGEC, the voice of the geothermal sector, seeks a Policy adviser to support its activities on renewable energy and climate legislation as well as EU funded projects. An initial six-month contract is offered with a view to rolling extensions.  

We seek a candidate with 1 to 3 years of professional experience, preferably in energy, climate, or EU affairs in a think-tank, association, company, or civil society organization. Native-level grasp of written English is essential alongside good self-organization skills and the maturity to be an effective team player.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting EU-funded research projects;
  • Engaging with advocacy activities on the upcoming ‘Fit for 55%’ package;
  • Writing position papers and briefing notes;
  • Monitoring and researching our key policies; 
  • Participating in events, meetings, and webinars.

Desired profile:

  • A highly proficient level of written English is essential. Other languages are an asset;
  • 1-3 years professional experience in energy, climate, or EU affairs;
  • Experience writing documents, publications, analysis for external or internal audiences; 
  • Knowledge of current EU affairs and/or a special interest in renewable energies;
  • Confidence and good self-organization skills.

  • In a separate document, please outline the opportunities and challenges for geothermal energy in the context of the EU’s Renovation Wave in no more than 600 words.

The closing date for applications is 18 February 2021 to allow for interviews the week of 22 February so that the Policy Associate can start in the first week of March. Interviews will take place virtually.
