The European Commission launched a consultation to gather inputs on the strategy it should adopt to strive to the long term decarbonisation of the EU economy.
In light of previous such attemps to set a decarbonisation roadmap at the European level, EGEC produced a technical paper, aimed at the EU policy makers. This paper assesses the limits of the energy system modelling used to explore decarbonisation scenarios, primarily the fact that this model overlooks the whole of the heating and cooling sector – in particular RES-HC.
