A week full of important geothermal events is beginning today.

The first day has seen the inauguration of the High Level Conference of the Global Geothermal Alliance in Florence, Italy (11-12 September). The conference, which saw the participation of Ministers from all over the world as well as representative of the private sector, addresses what are the main barriers that have hindered the deployment of geothermal despite its vast potential and how to overcome them. The event is a significant step that signals the importance of geothermal for the development of clean energy.

In the meanwhile, in Munich, Germany, the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern (11-12 September) will discuss the unique conditions for geothermal low-enthalpy energy production in the region of South Bavaria, where more than 25 projects are already operating, and further are under construction and in planning; and the Geothermal Congress DGK (12-14 September) will present and discuss the latest technological developments with over 150 lectures scientists and practitioners, including the whole range of geothermal systems and technologies for shallow and deep geothermal energy.

Geothermal will also be present, on 13 September, with a dedicated panel session at MEXIREC 2017, a global platform for government ministers, high-level decision makers, experts, specialists and thought leaders, as well as private sector players and civil society, to discuss and exchange their vision, experiences and solutions to accelerate the global scale-up of renewables.
