IMAGE final conference, Novel approaches for Geothermal Exploration marks the end of a four years long project on exploration and assessment of geothermal reservoirs.

Programme
A total of six sessions will be held and one poster session.

General Information
The IMAGE final conference 2017, Novel approaches for Geothermal Exploration, is held in HOF, Cultural Center, in Akureyri, North Iceland, from 4-6 October 2017. The assembly is open to all geoscientists.
 
Official language
The official language of the conference is English.
 
Deadlines
July 1st 2017. Deadline submission of abstracts. Please note the length of abstract is one page, size A4.
September 1st 2017. Deadline for registration.
 
Conference Fee
Conference registration fee ISK 12000 (Approx. 100 EUR, included is the conference dinner and field trips). Terms and Conditions.

The IMAGE final conference 2017, Novel approaches for Geothermal Exploration, is held in HOF, Cultural Center, Strandgata 12, in Akureyri, North Iceland, from 4-6 October 2017.
The Cultural Center is in walking distance with all hotel accommodations mentioned.

Transport
By plane
All international flights (except for Greenland) land at Keflavik Airport (KEF), situated 50 km west of Reykjavík. To get downtown to Reykjavík from airport to hotels you can choose between taxi cabs, two shuttle busses; Flybus and Gray Line Bus. The trip to the capital takes approx. 45 minutes.
Domestic flight are from Reykjavík Airport.
The flight from Reykjavík to Akureyri take approx. 45 min. Departure: 7.10 am / 9.55 am / 12.50 pm / 16.10 pm / 18.55 pm.
From Akureyri to Reykjavík. Departure: 8.25 am / 11.10 am / 14.05 pm / 16.15 pm / 17.25 pm / 20.45 pm
By car
Participants have the opportunity to rent a car from Reykjavík or Keflavík ariport to Akureyri. Car Rental.
By bus
Participants have the opportunity to take bus from Reykjavík to Akureyri.
Bus from Reykjavík to Akureyri (5,5 hours). Departure (bus stop: Mjódd) at 9 am / 17.30 pm.
Social Events
During the IMAGE Final Conference, “Novel approaches for Geothermal Exploration” we will offer you to attend two optional fieldtrips, involving some sight-seeing in Iceland’s magnificent nature and geothermal areas.
• Sunday Oct. 1st a five hour fieldtrip to Reykjanes peninsula.
(updated 26/04/2017) Departure from ÍSOR at Grensásvegur 9, at 08.30 am to Reykjanes high-temperature area, its power plant and the drillsite of the IDDP-2, the deepest well in Iceland. Arriving back in Reykjavík around 13.30 pm.
• Friday Oct. 6th, a day tour to Krafla and Theistareykir.
Departure from Hof Cultural Center at Strandgata 12 in Akureyri at 8.00 am. Optional excursion to experience the abundant geothermal activity in the North of Iceland, the new geothermal power plant at Þeistareykir and the Krafla high-temperature area. The unique nature around Lake Mývatn will be visited as well.
Arriving back to Akureyri around 18 pm.
