On Thursday 10th January 2019, the event “FLEXIRES: The role of flexible renewable generation for a successful decarbonisation of electricity” aims at discussing the role of flexible renewable generation, including geothermal, for a successful decarbonisation of electricity.

The geothermal, solar thermal electricity, bioenergy and ocean energy sectors come together for an afternoon of discussions to highlight how flexible renewable technologies fit in Europe’s path towards a carbon neutral economy. The workshop, organised in the framework of the DG ETIP project, will include a first panel to present the potential of these energy sources for the effective decarbonisation of the electricity system. A second panel will look at the financing aspect of this transition, and how to value adequately the specific services of these renewable energy technologies: flexibility and dispatchability.

The event will take place from 14:00 to 17:30 at the Thon Hotel EU and will be followed by a drink reception.
