Funding of Heating and Cooling Infrastructure

This week’s IGC Focus on Geothermal webinar will focus on the funding of heating and cooling systems with Philippe Dumas, Secretary-General of the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC).

To develop heating and cooling systems, for a district heating and cooling and/or to supply heating and cooling to industry, the developer has to find funds for all phases:

• resource assessment and access
• drilling & production
• the heat plant and the grids to supply heating and cooling.

After the search for funding for the resources access & development and the risk mitigation, there is a need for funds for developing or extending the heating and cooling grid.

The main issue for the district heating and cooling systems is the business model, how to secure the demand side?

So the Funding of heating and cooling infrastructures has to be secured.
