  • DATE OF THE EVENT: October 21, 2021
  • TIME: 10:30 - 12:00
  • LOCATION: Online

This EUSEW session, co-organised by Ocean Energy Europe, EGEC and EUREC, will explore the role of innovative renewables in supporting the transition towards climate neutrality. It will highlight solutions from emerging renewables and discuss recommendations for the Renewable Energy Directive recast.

To reach climate neutrality by 2050, and to strengthen Europe’s global leadership in renewables, new innovations must be brought to market this decade. RES solutions such as geothermal, next generation PV, and ocean energy can then:

  • diversify the post-2030 energy mix
  • facilitate the fuel switch towards renewables which enables the decarbonisation of energy supply
  • balance a grid with a very high penetration of variable generation
  • create high-value jobs and contribute to Europe’s technological and industrial leadership in the green economy
