  • DATE OF THE EVENT: April 10-12, 2024
  • TIME: From 9:00am
  • LOCATION: Munich, Germany

Under the theme “Together, toward a greener and safer future,” the KMT Symposium aims to convene the scientific community specialising in geosciences and deep-drilling engineering. The event facilitates the exchange of knowledge relevant to the Krafla system.

During the symposium, emphasis will be placed on introducing the vision of the Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT). Additionally, the KMT team will conduct a comprehensive review of the existing knowledge concerning the Krafla volcanic and geothermal systems. This presents an opportunity for participants to engage with this ground-breaking initiative which rapidly gains momentum.

Researchers are encouraged to contribute their findings and insights in geoscientific and geoenergy engineering realms pertaining to the Krafla volcano-geothermal system and comparable systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, geology, geophysics, petrology, rheology/rock physics, geochemistry, and geoengineering.
