GEOTHERMAL RISK ASSESSMENT AND DE-RISKING TOOLS
Thursday 26/09/2019 | 11:00 – 12:00 CET
The market for geothermal energy in Europe has enjoyed significant growth for the past 5 years. Today, there are nearly 300 geothermal district heating systems in operation in Europe, with a total installed capacity of about 5 GWth. Total installed power capacity is now more than 3 GWe.The power sector has doubled its capacity in 6 years. Meanwhile, the shallow geothermal sector is displaying continuous growth, approaching the threshold of 2 million units installed..
Geothermal project development has several risky components, the most important one being the resource risk. The GEORISK project works to establish risk insurance all over Europe and in some key target third countries to cover risks associated with the development and the operation of a deep geothermal plant.
In preparation for the upcoming Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern in Munich, GEORISK project and Enerchange would like to invite you to the pre-event webinar, taking place on Thursday 26 September 2019, from 11:00 to 12:00 CEST time (UTC +2).
Participation is free-of-charge but requiring registration.
Please click here to register before Tuesday 24 September 2019.
GEORISK project will also organize a workshop during Praxiforum Geothermie.Bayern, on 7 October 2019 – 14:00-18:00. This workshop aims at identifying the conditions for a transition in the insurance schemes, according to market maturity for geothermal projects. This will notably include a presentation of the first results of the GEORISK project. The workshop aims also to create a discussion between the project partners, the members of the Advisory committee and the other participants to the workshop.
11:00-11:10 – Welcome and Presentation of the Praxiforum Geothermie.Bayern 2019.
Jochen Schneider, Enerchange
11:10-11:15 – Presentation GEORISK project. Philippe Dumas, EGEC
11:15 – 11:25 – Risk assessment tool. Ferid Seyidov, GEC-Co
11:25 – 11:35 – Establishing a geothermal risk mitigation scheme. Nicole Lupi, SFOE (tbc)
11:35 – 11:45 – Directing sustainable finance to Geothermal energy. Thomas Garabetian, EGEC
11:45 – 12:00 – Q&A about the risk mitigation tools
