    Mine Water Energy Symposium

Registration is now open for the Mine Water Energy Symposium 2024, taking place on 24-26 April 2024 in Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, Scotland. Online attendance (for free) is also possible. Click here to register for the event. After three successful online events, the Mine Water Energy Symposium will be held in-person for the first time this year with online streaming options. The symposium will bring together international participants to share case studies of mine water heating projects as well as developments in mine thermal energy storage. The symposium’s focus will be on areas of research including heat-flow modelling, biogeochemistry and social sciences. Talks on regulatory aspects of mine water geothermal will be complemented by a regulation workshop session aiming to draw on international experiences. There will also be a poster display. A field trip to the UK Geoenergy Observatory in Glasgow (a research and development facility for mine water geothermal) will run on the morning of Friday 26 April from 09:00 to 13:30. Places are limited and there is a fee of £17.00 to attend, which includes travel to and from the event. The field trip is only open to participants of the main symposium.
